ART OPENING ”" ADAGIO PARA MUROS ” ,” by BERNAL

“Adagio Para Mudos“, the new series by artist Susana Bernal, is a pictorial summary of her life.
The artist uses a technique by mixing natural pigments, acrylics, oils, spray paints, pages from old books, newspapers, latex and wax … Through these materials, she creates a vast world of hues done in bright colors that  settle on the fabric and become  the foundation of her work.  While the effect of overlapping is apparent, each layer of material that make up the skin manages to only intensify these paintings.

Moods on canvas

  Bernal manages to create small emotional time capsules sealed onto her canvases  forever locking in particular words or phrases that  express a theme or sentiment which was floating through her head at the time of execution of each  painting.  Not simply content with introducing words into her work, she also uses an invented series of  numbers and formulas that like the keywords she uses also encode parts of past experiences, feelings and thoughts still living in their lethargy.
